Sponsored by Ginn Resorts, Burke Mountain’s parent company, the 2nd Annual Burke Mountain Music Festival will be held on Saturday September 13th, 2008. Staged directly behind the Sherburne Base Lodge, the festival will again feature amphitheater-style grass seating on the mountain’s lower slopes. The Gin Blossoms, from Tempe, Arizona, took the music world by storm in the 1990’s with smash hits “Hey Jealousy”, “Allison Road” and two top 10 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 “Till I Hear From You” and “Follow You Down”. The Gin Blossoms are considered to have a wide influence on modern rock, due to their consolidation of melodic rock, folk and country elements.
Howie Day, from Bangor, Maine, is a talented young songwriter who constantly balances a pop mind and a versatile voice with the kind of jangly and ambiguous self-taught strumming style that gives his conventional songs a welcome degree of honesty. Day self-financed and self-released his first album, Australia, in 2000, which sold more than 30,000 copies without the assistance of a record label. Day signed to the major label Epic Records in 2002 and has since re-released his debut album, as well as, produced a follow up album, Stop All The World Now, which was certified gold in early 2005. This album produced a number of singles, including "Collide", Day's most successful to date, and the hit "She Says".
Marc Broussard, an acclaimed Singer/Songwriter, first drew coast-to-coast attention in 2004 with his major-label debut, Carencro, a full-blooded take on the blues, soul, Cajun music, rock, and swamp-pop of his native Louisiana, distilled through his flair for smart contemporary songwriting. Broussard and his undeniable presence have performed countless headline shows and tours alongside such like-minded musicians as Dave Matthews Band, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Gavin DeGraw, O.A.R., and Maroon 5. Broussard's music has been featured on shows such as "Clash of the Choirs" in which "Home" was performed by a Blake Shelton led choir. "Home" also previously served as the theme song for NBC's "Medium." Most recently, "Must Be the Water" was the theme song for the 2008 NBA All-Star Game. Broussard has also been a featured performer on many TV programs including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “The Jimmy Kimmel Show”, “The Late Show with Conan O’Brien”, “CBS Saturday Early Show”, “Larry King Live” and CBS’s “Saturday Morning’s Second Cup Cafe”.
